Nassau Bay council schedules May 2 elections, including sales-tax proposition for street repairs

The Nassau Bay City Council voted unanimously Feb. 9 to order elections for May 2, 2026. The Council approved Resolution No. 2026-0209-1 ordering a general election and Resolution No. 2026-0209-2 ordering a special election to present a proposition to voters to reauthorize the local sales and use tax at the rate of one-fourth of one percent to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.
Mayor Philip Johnson read the resolution captions. Councilmember Chase Waterwall made the motion to approve both resolutions as captioned; Councilmember Ashleigh Klug seconded. The Council recorded unanimous ayes. The special election proposition language, as read, would place a local sales and use tax reauthorization on the May 2 ballot to fund street maintenance and repair.
