Nassau Bay council authorizes purchase of new pumper truck to bolster fire response

Fire Chief Tom George told council the purchase would be made through the HGAC Cooperative Purchasing Program and warned of a "29–30-month delivery timeline" and likely future price increases. The department plans to keep the existing oldest engine as a reserve and add rear station storage for the retained unit.
Councilmember Chase Waterwall moved to approve the purchase order; Councilmember Haley Uhl seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The purchase is intended to maintain the city’s Insurance Services Office (ISO) support and update aging apparatus per the department’s capital plan.
The next administrative steps are to issue the purchase order and track delivery timing; the agenda did not identify a funding source during the motion beyond the department’s recommended capital plan.
