Navarro ISD trustees receive detailed update on high school construction and Navarro South design

AG/CM project managers Melisa Nu'u and Ryan Zwicke gave the Board of Trustees a progress update on Navarro High School construction and on the Navarro South project during the May 19 meeting.
Nu'u and Zwicke reported work on interior finishes including installation of markerboards and tackboards, sinks in science labs and restrooms, ceramic tile installation, and a social stairway intended for instructional use. Large spaces such as the auditorium, gyms, cafeteria, kitchen, fine arts and CTE areas are in various stages of above-ceiling and MEP work. On site, most paving remains to be completed; parking-lot lighting is already live and landscaping prep is underway. The managers said roadwork along Highway 123 will be coordinated with TxDOT, beginning with southbound lanes, with the goal of completing as much work as possible before the fall semester begins.
The managers also outlined non-construction items tied to capital planning: the chiller replacement at the existing high school is scheduled to begin in January 2026, and equipment lead times require chillers be ordered now. Design development drawings for Navarro South were received and are under constructability and milestone review; civil and public-infrastructure drawings are being prepared in coordination with the City of Seguin. The board did not take formal action on construction contract changes at the meeting.
