During public comment the board heard two distinct community concerns. Amelia Dickerson, a blind, long‑term Boulder resident, recounted why she moved to Boulder for transit and walkability and urged traffic calming at 47th & Independence to reduce risk for pedestrians. "I am blind... I moved to Boulder because of the ability to get around both public transit and walking," she said, and asked what prevents more concrete calming measures from being implemented.
Another commenter, Katelyn, described chronic streetlight outages and slow response from Xcel Energy, saying the outages have safety and comfort consequences and criticizing city priorities. Board members acknowledged both speakers, and Blythe said staff had received Amelia’s email and an ADA consultant letter and would follow up and visit the site. Staff did not present a specific schedule for broader streetlight repairs in the meeting.
