The Lake George Park Commission approved an application to relocate an existing dock at Cleverdale Road and to add a boat lift, adopting Resolution 2025‑03 (application DWM243Zeros139). Staff read the record and the commission determined the project to be a minor action under the state environmental rules and SEQRA; the chair then called and recorded the voice vote in favor.
The applicant described survey history, a revised setback and orientation that he said improved nonconformity, and the substantial personal cost (he estimated roughly $70,000) to move and install a lift. The applicant said the redesign reduces vegetation by using an open‑crib design and argued the change improved safety and compliance. The transcript records his statement that the change was intended to make the structure "safe, practical, and responsible."
Neighbors Al and Brenda Wishart opposed the relocation, telling the commission the slip historically had no boats for decades and arguing the proposed shift would shrink a practical buffer between boats and their property. As Al Wishart put it during public comment: "his boat's gonna go from being 12 feet away from our property line extended to 5 feet." The Wisharts requested the board require a more centered relocation to preserve safety, privacy and equal spacing between neighboring docks.
Commissioners reported a site visit and discussed options; several said moving the dock a few additional feet north would be preferable but not legally required. Counsel reviewed the statutory standard the commission must apply (whether the application would have an undue impact on health, safety, welfare, congestion or cause undue visual/cultural/audible impact). After discussion, the commission approved the application and the resolution was carried.
