The Town of Johnsburg Board voted to approve Local Law 2 of 2025, which authorizes the town to enter into a written agreement — including a simple MOU — with the Adirondack Community Outreach Center (ACOC) to support the operation of a food pantry.
Chair introduced the resolution and a committee member (speaker 2) clarified the law’s intent: “The local law authorizes the town to rent, enter into a written agreement and it can be a simple written agreement or an MOU with the ACOC,” the committee member said. Board members noted the legal authorization is only the first step and a formal contract or MOU will be drafted and executed as the next step.
The chair cited a prior practice where a board member drafted a contract for the historical society and said the town would likely follow a similar path for the food pantry. After a brief discussion, the board voted by voice and members said “Aye.”
The resolution passed; staff will prepare the required written agreement and return to the board for any necessary administrative or contractual review.
