Supervisor proposes shuttle and county lot to ease Ski Bowl parking

The Town of Johnsburg Supervisor told the board he has been talking with county officials, ORDA and the parks director about a plan to reduce pressure on park land by directing cars to a county-owned lot just south of the train station and running a shuttle to the Ski Bowl venues.
"It will hold between 50 and 60 car spots," the Supervisor said, adding that ORDA has indicated support and could supply a shuttle. He framed the idea as an opportunity to reduce wear on park property and to bring more visitors down Main Street rather than the bypass.
The Supervisor said the plan would not provide shuttle service to the Main Mountain but would serve Ski Bowl venues that host winter skiing and a summer zipline, and that the county has already been contacted about the concept. He described the proposal as exploratory and said he is not asking the board to adopt a resolution at this time.
Board members did not vote on the idea but discussed logistics, signage and county cooperation. The Supervisor said he had spoken individually with other board members and with Kevin Hajos, the department of public works superintendent, who the Supervisor said was supportive of advancing the concept.
