During the Series 8000 review the board addressed several policy housekeeping and content items that staff will revise before the next reading.
Board members noted the policy draft references an English-Language-Learner (ELL) plan the district does not yet have. Staff acknowledged the plan is not currently in place and agreed to develop an ELL plan to be in effect before the next school year.
On technology, an IT staff member explained the district uses LineWise and GoGuardian to filter and block online content on district networks but noted limitations when students connect through external carriers or use some VPN services; filtering is monitored and updated daily.
The board also discussed textbook-related language and the district's use of Textbook Central for private-school textbook requests. Members agreed to set July 1 as a practical deadline for private schools to submit fall-book requests so the district can deliver materials in time for the start of school when ordering is required.
These items were left as amendments to be incorporated in the next policy draft; no final policy changes were adopted at this meeting.
