Survey finds milfoil largely reduced; most milfoil occurrences were fragments

Bob Bombard said the 38-site sampling found only two occurrences of milfoil and both were fragments without root mass; presenters summarized the sampled area as about 38 acres with approximately 3.9 acres containing milfoil occurrences. "Both of them were fragments, neither appeared to have root mass," Bombard said while reviewing the results.
Presenters and commissioners discussed survey method limitations for deep-water species (Nitella and others), the randomness of rake-toss sampling in deep sites and the need for targeted deep dives where appropriate. Presenters said final, organized tables and maps would be distributed in a cleaned-up report rather than the draft slide order shown at the meeting.
