Commissioners approve 2026 RAMP grant recommendations after tough deliberations

Kevin Burns, presenting the RAMP board's work, said the program has distributed substantial funds over time: "so it's 20 years, $78,991,111 in Grama funds have been distributed throughout the county for a variety of projects." He described a volunteer review process, roughly 189 total requests this year and collection of about $6.6 million in RAMP tax revenue for the year. Burns also noted the board increased its 'easy grant' maximum from $1,500 to $3,500 for this cycle.
Commissioners praised the volunteer board and staff for transparent review and thorough vetting. A commissioner moved to approve the board's recommendations as presented; the motion carried unanimously. County officials said remaining funds in one category will be moved to other prioritized categories to fully allocate grant dollars by year-end.
