Council discusses permit checks, setbacks and flyway barriers for beehives

"If those things aren't present, then we can tell the beekeeper, you've got to put these things in place," staff said. Council members proposed that permit applicants list a local beekeeper to contact in the event of a swarm, to streamline emergency responses outside of business hours.
