Village attorney reports solar farm letter of intent for 15–35 acre site

The Village of New Milford learned Feb. 25 that a solar developer has submitted a letter of intent to explore a 15- to 35-acre solar farm in the village. Village attorney Jim Stevens said the company proposed paying the village $5,000 for a 1–3 year period and an additional $1,500 per acre during construction, and that a formal site plan is expected before negotiations proceed.
Stevens told the committee that once the developer files a site plan, village officials will begin negotiations. President Timothy H. Owens and board member Ron Colvin were identified as the officials who will meet with the attorney to coordinate next steps. No site location, developer name or timeline for final approval was disclosed at the meeting.
