Lubbock council certifies Tim Green's victory, unanimously swears him in

The Lubbock City Council unanimously certified the Aug. 1 District 4 special runoff and administered the oath to Tim Green after City Secretary Courtney Paz read the results: Tim Green 1,881, Gary Boren 1,213, total 3,094. The council approved the canvass resolution by voice vote and held a short reception.
The Lubbock City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution canvassing the Aug. 1 special runoff returns and declared Tim Green the winner of the District 4 seat.
City Secretary Courtney Paz read the totals aloud: “Gary Boren received 1,213 votes. Tim Green received 1,881 votes. There was a total of 3,094 votes in that race.” After the reading a council member moved to accept the returns and the motion received a second; the mayor called for a voice vote and the motion passed with no opposition.
Following the certification, Tim Green took the ceremonial oath of office administered by his son, Jake Davis. During the ceremony Green recited the oath and later told the council and attendees, “I pledge to represent every 1 of you.” He thanked family, firefighters, peers in the building industry and supporters who backed his campaign.
Mayor and council members invited attendees to a reception after the ceremony and said Green will take his seat formally at the council’s 2 p.m. meeting. The council also thanked citizens for participating in the runoff election.
