Sharon Archer was elected president of the Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District Board of Education after the board closed nominations and voted by a show of hands; the chair announced Archer had received a majority and the board administered the oath of office.
"I do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of New York, and then I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of president of the board of education of the Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District, DeWitt, New York to the best of my ability," Archer recited after her election.
The board also elected Lynn Cortese as vice president following nominations and a vote; Cortese then recited the vice-presidential oath. The board confirmed motions to close nominations and move to voting during the process and asked nominees to accept or decline before the vote.
During the reorganization session the board administered oaths to two newly appointed members, identified in the agenda as David Babakin and Dominic Dimperio, and swore in the ex officio student board member, Evan Wagner Flynn. The superintendent also recited the oath of office for the district's superintendent position.
The reorganization items were procedural and concluded with the gavel handed to the new president to preside over the remainder of the July 13 meeting.
