Council approves series of resolutions, adopts conflict-disclosure ordinance

The Maplewood City Council approved a set of routine resolutions and one ordinance during the Aug. 11 meeting. By roll call the council adopted Bill 63-35, establishing procedures to disclose potential conflicts of interest and substantial interests for certain municipal officials; the bill was recorded as ordinance 6125.
Council also approved Resolution 26-27 to institute a memorial tree-and-bench program (bench fee $2,500; tree fee $3.50 unless it’s an existing tree) and a package of vendor contracts for routine maintenance and services, including vehicle repair (West County EMS and Fire Protection District), uniforms (Leon Uniform Company), electrical (Reinhold Electric), plumbing (Merlo Plumbing Co.), HVAC (Redbird HVAC), sewer-lateral repair (Tope Inc.), tree care (Gamma Tree Experts), door/window and garage repairs (Overhead Door of St. Louis) and an ERP software contract with GovSense. Staff noted some contracts formalize recurring local vendors and that several items required roll call votes because they involve private contracts exceeding thresholds. Council approved each resolution after brief discussion and assurances from staff about procurement and contract management.
