Council approves one-year stewardship contract for Butterfly Garden, capped at $5,000

Beth Denton, Territory Manager for Pizzo, told the council that Pizzo had finished installing an erosion blanket and provided photos documenting the work at the Butterfly Garden. "They finished putting down the erosion blanket and pictures were provided," Denton said.
Denton presented a stewardship contract for 2025 outlining maintenance from April through November, invasive and non‑native vegetation control by hand pulling or treatment, seed collection and dispersal to promote native plants, and estimated time, travel and supplies. Mike Botelho moved to approve a one‑year contract not to exceed $5,000 with reassessment for 2026; Nancy Thill seconded and the motion passed by a 5–0 roll-call vote.
Council members said the contract is intended to preserve the pollinator habitat and keep invasive plants under control; the village will reassess whether stewardship needs to continue beyond 2025 as part of next year's planning work.
