On Sept. 16 the Douglas County Board approved payment of vendor claims totaling $2,047,937.26, covering 379 charges and large contractor payments including Joe Riley Construction and SIR LINES-A-LOT.
Later in the meeting the board set the preliminary levy at $38,121,394.00 on a motion by Commissioner Charlie Meyer, seconded by Jeff Way. Both the bills payment and the levy-setting motions passed with Commissioners Tim Kalina, Charlie Meyer, Shane Schmidt and Jeff Way voting yes; Jerry L. Rapp was absent.
The board did not finalize the levy (the action set a preliminary levy); further formal levy adoption steps were not recorded in the minutes for this meeting.
