Board retains deputy sheriff position and authorizes assistant county attorney hire
Summary

The Douglas County Board approved making a Deputy Sheriff position that had been grant-funded a permanent part of the Law Enforcement budget after a motion from Commissioner Charlie Meyer (seconded by Tim Kalina). The action passed 4–0 with Commissioner Jerry L. Rapp recorded absent.
Later in the meeting the board authorized the County Attorney to fill a vacant Assistant County Attorney position at a Step 5 hire. The authorization was approved on a motion by Commissioner Shane Schmidt, seconded by Tim Kalina, and carried with all four present commissioners voting in favor. County Attorney Chad Larson attended the closed-session portion of the meeting and remained involved in the personnel authorization that followed.
