The Douglas County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 19 adopted a series of resolutions setting 2026 salaries for several elected county officials and establishing a framework for commissioner compensation.
Resolution 25-63 sets county commissioner compensation to reflect the same percentage increase as the 2026 general wage adjustment for non‑union county employees; the Board said the specific percentage will be set later and established eligible per diem payments at $100 per day in 2026. Resolution 25-64 set the County Attorney salary for 2026 at $160,000. Resolution 25-65 set the Auditor/Treasurer salary at $110,200. After a failed motion to set the Recorder salary at $90,850, the Board adopted Resolution 25-66 setting the County Recorder salary at $86,000. Resolution 25-67 set the Douglas County Sheriff salary at $175,000.
Each resolution passed on a recorded roll-call vote with Commissioners Kalina, Meyer, Rapp, Schmidt and Way voting yes. The resolutions direct the Finance Director to implement the approved salaries and incorporate them into the 2026 county budget and payroll systems.
Commissioner Tim Kalina moved the commissioner compensation framework; Commissioner Charlie Meyer seconded. The salary resolutions for officeholders note consideration of statutory duties, supervisory responsibilities, workload, and comparative county data in setting pay.
