Navasota council reviews fire station proposal, approves wayfinding signs and routine finance items

The City Council of Navasota met Oct. 14, 2024, heard a staff workshop on a proposed AG/CM, Inc. contract for project-management support on a new fire station and approved a bundle of administrative and financial items including a contract for directional signage and multiple resolutions updating authorized account representatives.
Mayor Bert Miller called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and led formalities including the pledge after an invocation by Pastor Matt Cecil. Visitor Lucy Ybarra, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, briefed the council on the Blues Festival scheduled for Oct. 19, 2024 and two ribbon cuttings planned Oct. 18, 2024. Mayor Miller issued proclamations: Oct. 16, 2024 as "Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce Day" and Oct. 23–31, 2024 as "Red Ribbon Week."
In business actions, the council unanimously approved Quote #3923 from Ezzi Signs, Inc. for manufacture and installation of wayfinding signs. It also approved Resolution No. 773-24 awarding grant administration services to Grant Works for the 2025–2026 Texas Community Development Block Grant (administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture) and accepted quarterly investment reports (April–September 2024) plus the FY 2024 Annual Investment Summary. The meeting concluded with routine approvals of the September minutes, the municipal court report and the September financial report; Mayor Miller adjourned the session at 7:30 p.m.
The city manager said the proposed AG/CM contract for the fire station will be placed on the next agenda for the council's consideration and potential approval.
