Commissioners approve $16,817 contract for environmental work on proposed 900 South walkway

The Weber County Board of Commissioners approved a contract to hire Wilson & Company to prepare the federally required environmental document for a proposed pedestrian walkway along 900 South from the east boundary of West Weber Elementary to 3600 West.
Presenter Ashley Tolman said the project secured $1,000,000 from the Wasatch Front Regional Council CMAQ fund and just under $400,000 from the Carbon Reduction Program; Tolman added the local match required is $101,347 and that the match was included in the county’s 2026 final budget. Tolman said the county’s purchasing office solicited four proposals and selected Wilson & Company as the low bidder. The contract amount before the commission was $16,817.
Commissioner discussion was brief. A motion to approve the contract was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote. Tolman said once the environmental document is approved through WFRC and UDOT manages the funds, the next steps in the project will proceed.
