Park staff said grass is coming in, weed cleanup is underway and the first concert of the season is scheduled for Saturday, May 24 from 3:00–5:30 p.m.; beach staff said preparations for Memorial Day were on schedule and that stairs at stops 39 and 40 will be stained. Public Works reported completed leaf pickup, mulching in the park, brush pickup at Stop 40, parking-lot sealing and repair of landings at stops 41.5 and 40.
On tree policy, Nancy Thill reported proposed changes to the tree ordinance, the most significant of which would require contractors—not homeowners—to apply for tree permits. She also announced an Arbor Day celebration on July 10 at the butterfly garden entrance and said the fencing around park trees will be replaced; staff noticed poison hemlock returning and are monitoring it.
