Council limits pickleball tournament to Sept. 5–7, tightens court controls after complaint

The council approved a modified request from Lisa Zirpolo to hold a pickleball tournament on Friday, Sept. 5 (set-up at 4 p.m.), Saturday, Sept. 6 and Sunday, Sept. 7. Council members concluded that reserving four days was too long and limited the event to three days; they required a list of any village resources needed (tables, chairs, cords) one week before the event.
Street Superintendent Rick Reitz said staff will lock and unlock the pickleball/tennis gates starting May 1 and removed the net cranks because they were repeatedly lost or broken. During public comment, Pam Schutt complained that pickleball players were "relieving themselves by the creek," and Nancy Thill suggested quieter pickleballs as a mitigation. Tim McCarthy appointed Mike Mumper as park liaison to help oversee park scheduling and issues.
