Council hears update on water work: drywells complete, new pump and federal review for Creek project

Public Works and council members reported progress on multiple water projects. Street Superintendent Rick Reitz said two new drywells were installed on Lake Shore Drive between Stop 38 and Stop 39, completing four drywells that were in the 2024–25 budget. Mike Mumper said he has been working with Down to Earth on a new park irrigation system and that "all the monthly water reports have been sent into EGLE" as part of ongoing compliance.
Merritt Engineering is preparing the Project Plan for the Creek water project; the plan must be approved by the federal government before the village can proceed to the bid process. Council members were told the new pump will be installed later this month and that reduced seasonal usage makes this an opportune time for the change-over.
