Douglas County permits Meichsner feedlot to return with 50 animal units under conditions

The Douglas County Board on Sept. 2 approved a Conditional Use permit for Bryan K. and Lisa L. Meichsner to reestablish an animal feedlot at 50 animal units on portions of Section 7 in Ida Township. The motion carried unanimously after the board attached four conditions to the permit.
The conditions require the feedlot owner to register the operation under Minnesota Chapter 7020 and maintain that registration while animals are on site; to divert clean water away from the open lot area; to land-apply a previously existing bedpack or stockpile by Dec. 1, 2025; and to seek county review and approval before any expansion or creation of lot-like conditions outside the proposed feedlot area. The county also noted that any state permits required remain the responsibility of the owner.
County staff will monitor compliance with the permit conditions and the County Feedlot Officer will be the contact for enforcement and registration matters.
