Resident urges ARBC to prioritize projects, offers help

Monte McNutt of Saint George addressed the commission during public comment, saying he had reviewed the ARBC master plan and was impressed with the level of detail. "I'm impressed," McNutt said, and he urged the commission to do more outreach to explain what it is doing to solve flood problems rather than leaving the narrative to outside outlets.
McNutt recommended adding a project priority list to the master plan and suggested ARBC consider adding a control structure at the Bridal A's to better manage flows during storm events that can travel up from Lake Pontchartrain. He also praised Paul Sawyer's leadership: "His name is Paul Sawyer. He's in the mold of Garrett Graves," McNutt said. Commissioners thanked McNutt and invited him to future meetings and site visits; staff said they would continue media outreach and public engagement.
