President Clark said he reviewed permit materials and that the operation "looks probably like one of the better sites that I've ever seen operated," but noted the discharge would occur only during high water events and that ARBC should monitor and, if needed, comment. Commissioners moved to prepare draft comments and circulate them to the commission; the motion (moved by Commissioner Bailey, seconded by Commissioner Evans) passed with no opposition. Staff will circulate a draft comment letter prior to submission.
The commission framed the action as part of its oversight role in the basin: support cooperative operations that protect water quality while remaining watchful of commercial discharges that could affect the Amite River.
