John Erickson of engineering firm E4 presented the board with bid results and a ranking of firms for the district's 2024 construction bond work. At the Sept. 9 meeting, Trustee Donald Willeford moved, “I make the motion to approve SCI as the General Contractor for Phases, II, III and IV, and authorize the superintendent to begin negotiations and execute a contract. If negotiations are unable to proceed, then, to allow the superintendent to begin negotiations with the second-ranked firm.” Trustee Jerry Cobb seconded the motion and the board carried it 7–0.
The contract covers Phase II (band hall), Phase III (high school/middle school vestibules) and Phase IV (multipurpose gym) under the district's 2024 bond program. The minutes record no objections and delegate negotiation authority to the superintendent, allowing the district to move forward once contract terms are satisfactory.
