New Deal ISD sets May 2, 2026 election and signs joint election contract with Lubbock County

Trustee Tim Seeley moved and Trustee Ben Aubrey seconded a motion to order a general election for two at-large board trustee positions to be held May 2, 2026; the motion carried 6–0 with Trustee Alex Saenz absent.
The board also approved the Notice and Order for early voting and election day procedures, passed a resolution to participate in a joint election with cities and schools inside Lubbock County, and approved a Joint Election Contract with Lubbock County. "Moved as presented," the meeting record states for these items; each motion carried unanimously with one absence.
As part of the election preparations, the board voted to appoint Roxzine Stinson as Joint Elections Officer and as Joint Early Voting Clerk and designated the Elections Office at 1308 Crickets Avenue as the main early voting location for the May 2 election. The board recorded no debate on the appointments and no opposing votes were recorded.
Filing dates for candidates were listed in informational items as Jan. 14–Feb. 13, 2026. The actions set the administrative steps needed to prepare for the May 2 election.
