The board approved a tuition agreement enabling a Sparta Area School District student to attend Project SEARCH for the 2026–27 school year. Project SEARCH provides workplace internships combined with short classroom instruction for 18–21‑year‑old students with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Staff said the student was accepted after case‑manager referral and that the district applied for a Transition Incentive Grant (TIG) to fund the placement. "It will be fully funded through the TIG grant," a presenter told the board, adding that the district will provide transportation via leased vans as part of ad‑hoc routing for alternative placements. Board members voiced support for the opportunity.
