Planning board told to update ordinances to meet upcoming state mandates

At the Aug. 10 meeting, a planning-board representative briefed the select board on an incoming set of state mandates that will require updates to local land-use and subdivision ordinances.
The speaker told the board that a pre-application was discussed for a residential project at 2224 Court Road and that the planning board's major takeaway was the number and significance of state mandates that take effect next June. "There are large number of state mandates, that take effect, I believe it's next June," the planning-board representative said, and said the planning board will need to review those mandates and modify the town ordinances to bring the necessary changes to the town meeting scheduled for June 2027.
Board members asked staff and planners to identify the specific ordinance sections that will need revision and to prepare draft language and cost estimates for public review before the 2027 town meeting.
