In his report at the April 6 meeting, Superintendent Dr. Woodcock reminded the board that the state budget had not been finalized and outlined advocacy priorities district stakeholders are pursuing. He said some priorities include additional funding for students with special needs and extending funding to age 22, which he described to the board as an "unfunded mandate." "Students with special needs and increasing our funding for students with special needs... needing funding to go up through age 22, which is now a mandate, but it's an unfunded mandate," Woodcock said.
Woodcock also reviewed upcoming events: BOCES annual meeting in Cortlandville, the district's student-run lemonade-stand fundraiser across buildings the week of April 6–10, a chorus festival and an acceptance hoops event for students with special needs. He noted materials from the BOCES meeting were shared with board members who could not attend and reminded the board of committee and safety-team meetings in the weeks ahead.
