Brandon Sharp, the district’s director of teaching and learning, presented proposed updates to graduation requirements (policy 6.38) during the board’s annual review. Sharp said changes reflect a waiver that consolidated physical education into one semester, adjustments to total credits, removal of an accessibility‑noncompliant table, and clarified language about elective credit approvals and early graduation.
Sharp also told the board the civics test "becomes part of the requirements next or this year. This year," and said the Jayhawk diploma team name and review process language were updated. The item was presented for first reading and will return to the board for further action as part of the policy review schedule.
