Trustee Crystal Davila moved that the Pasadena Independent School District Board of Trustees invite one candidate back for a second round of interviews for the superintendent position; the motion passed 6 to 0. The board reconvened in open session at 5:20 p.m. and adjourned at 5:21 p.m.
The special meeting, which began at 8:00 a.m. Feb. 12 at the Pasadena ISD Administration Building, 3920 Mickey Gilley Boulevard, included a closed session under Texas Government Code §§ 551.074 and 551.071. The board used the closed session to consider the superintendent's recommendation to hire administrative personnel, to conduct interviews of superintendent applicants and to consult with district counsel on matters listed on the agenda.
Board President Casey Phelan presided; trustees present were Casey Phelan, Kenny Fernandez, Crystal Davila, Paola Gonzalez, Marshall Kendrick and Nelda Sullivan. Marshall Kendrick gave the invocation and Kenny Fernandez led the pledges. There were no public comments during the allotted public-comment period under Policy BED (LOCAL).
The board did not disclose candidate names or further personnel details in the open minutes. The action approved was limited in scope to inviting one candidate back for an additional interview; no employment decision was recorded in the open session minutes.
