Council approves liquor license for Baron Chestnut event space

Beth Miller asked the Olney City Council on Dec. 8 for a liquor license for the parlor at Baron Chestnut LLC, a renovated building behind City Hall intended primarily as a wedding and reception venue. Miller said the space would mainly host private events and occasional public events to bring revenue while the wedding business builds. "We will mainly be an event space catering to weddings and receptions mainly," Miller said.
Council members questioned whether the venue would operate as a regular bar and whether gambling would be allowed. Miller said her purchase agreement—she bought the building from a church—specifically prohibits gambling. The council moved, seconded and voted in favor of approving the license. After the vote, the mayor wished Miller "Good luck."
