PORT ARANSAS, Texas — The Port Aransas Independent School District Board of Trustees on June 11 adopted a resolution recognizing the Aransas County Texas 4‑H Organization for extracurricular status under state administrative rules.
The resolution states, in part: "Be it hereby resolved that upon this date, the duly elected Board of Trustees of the PORT ARANSAS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT meeting in public with a quorum present and certified, did adopt this resolution that recognizes the ARANSAS County Texas 4‑H Organization as approved for recognition and eligible for extracurricular status consideration under 19 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 76.1, pertaining to extracurricular activities." The resolution specifies that participation by 4‑H members is subject to the rules and regulations set forth in that chapter as interpreted by the Board and designated district officials.
The resolution also notes that Texas A&M AgriLife Extension will request academic eligibility for all 4‑H competitive activities, "regardless if a school absence is or is not required, and for non‑competitive purposes when an absence is required." The resolution is dated June 11, 2025, and the signatures on the minutes have been normalized in the district record to Board President Kristi Littleton and Superintendent Dr. Sharon McKinney.
