Council discusses failing wastewater pumps and approves purchase of portable pump

Mayor Dylan Goldsmith reported the street department has been working at the wastewater treatment plant and suggested manhole inspections before the city's summer oil-and-chip program. Commissioner Arkebauer reported that primary pumps (pump #3 and pump #1) need work, that the excess pump was down, and staff were exploring repair options but could not guarantee fixes.
Commissioner Arkebauer proposed purchasing a portable pump from Altofer CAT not to exceed $40,000 after a rental option from Kamadulski was noted to cost $2,100 per week. Commissioner Arkebauer moved and Commissioner O’Malley seconded; the council voted yes (Arkebauer, O’Malley and Mayor Goldsmith) and the motion carried.
