Tracy walked trustees through renderings of the Poly High School transformation — including a three-story CTE classroom building, new Student Services building and redesigned drop-off — and showed images and a short animation of Jordan High School's new gymnasium and aquatic center. Staff described topping-out ceremonies and fielding questions about building names and community input processes.
Presenters said feasibility studies at Lincoln, Whittier, Adams, King and Willard identify opportunities to remove end-of-life portables and replace them with permanent classrooms, add TK/K classrooms and expand play and green space. Staff highlighted historic preservation and neighborhood identity considerations in design and noted contractors’ attention to site cleanliness and safety during construction.
The board asked about naming processes for buildings within schools; staff said naming recommendations will be brought back later with community committee input. Trustees also raised neighborhood impacts and commended staff for prioritizing replacements that restore green space and improve access.
