Summary
City staff told the board the City Council engaged Card & Associates to study redevelopment of the 25‑acre City of Palms Park (contract quoted around $340,000) and that the city issued an RFP for demolition; demolition bids are expected in March and council will select a contractor before any demolition begins.

City staff updated the Economic Development Advisory Board on the City of Palms Park site, saying City Council voted unanimously to hire Card & Associates to perform a feasibility and master‑planning study of the 25‑acre site.
Staff said the study — described in the City’s scope as a master planning initiative to assess mixed‑use options including sports facilities, multifamily housing, hotel, and retail — is expected to take roughly six to eight months for the current phase. Staff cited a contract figure of about $340,000 for the work. Separately, a demolition RFP for the City of Palms Park has been advertised; staff said demolition bids are expected back in March and the council will select a contractor before demolition begins. "It's not something where we hire you on a Monday and it's gone on a Friday," staff said, noting the complexity of removing seating, roofing and other stadium elements.
Board members pressed for clarity about follow‑up planning and asked that the feasibility work consider adjacent sites and infrastructure (Lee Health, police station, Yacht Basin) so the study's recommendations fit the broader redevelopment puzzle. Several members urged the city to include historic‑preservation and salvage options in demolition planning, such as preserving stadium memorabilia or interpretive displays of artifacts.
