The Economic Development Advisory Board swore in Mittul Jathani as its newest member during the meeting.
Jathani said he has lived in Fort Myers since 2013, works for the Department of Homeland Security and owns multiple local businesses, including food-service outlets and an IT and insurance business. ‘‘I thought, like, maybe this board will give me more opportunity to explore my potential and other stuff,’’ Jathani told the board after being introduced. City Clerk Mary Hegeman administered the oath and confirmed he will serve on the Economic Development Advisory Board.
Board members welcomed Jathani and offered brief remarks; the chair said the board looks forward to new perspectives. The oath affirmed duties to ‘‘support, protect and defend’’ the Constitution and the charter and to ‘‘faithfully perform all the duties as a member of the Economic Development Advisory Board for the City of Fort Myers.’’
