Michiana moves forward on water project planning, hires environmental consultant for historic study

Councilor Mike Mumper reported that the village must resubmit its second water grant after a congressional pause and that Merritt Engineering is preparing the Project Plan for the first water grant. The plan requires a National Historic Preservation study to determine whether any above-ground historic or architectural resources would be affected.
Two quotes for the environmental study were presented: Merjent at $7,450 and Orbis at $2,105. The council approved hiring Orbis Environmental Consulting for $2,105. Mumper also reported that a new 750mp pump has now been installed in the pump house as part of the first grant’s work, and he expects a water contract with Grand Beach to be ready by the April meeting.
