Michiana council approves routine finance items, hears staff reports

At its Sept. 6 meeting the Village of Michiana Council approved routine financial items and received regular departmental reports.
Treasurer Tracey McCay reported the Pokagon Fund balance remains $43,329 and successfully moved to amend an assumed CD rate from 4% to 3.75% to reflect falling market rates; the motion passed 5–0. Clerk Anne Heywood presented a check register for $162,192.46, which the council approved. Building Inspector Bill Lambert reported 32 permits issued to date and said the Rosenband permit was nearly complete. Police Chief Ryan Layman reported 76 combined calls during the reporting period. Public Works reported installation of two drywells and continued pothole repairs using hot patch.
