Michiana water update: daily testing, EPA project plan in preparation, hydrant flushing and pump installation planned

Council member Mike Mumper reported that the village is submitting monthly water reports to the Michigan EGLE and that daily water testing is being conducted by staff. He said a Project Plan is being prepared for submission to the EPA, after which bids will be solicited for the work described in the plan.
Mumper reported crews will be flushing hydrants over the next couple of weeks as part of routine maintenance. Street Superintendent Rick Reitz said a new pump is ready and staff hope to install it in November, taking the system temporarily down to a single pump during the work. "The new pump is ready and waiting to be installed," Mumper said, according to the meeting minutes.
Mumper indicated a follow‑up water meeting will be scheduled in November to provide residents further information. No timetable for EPA review or bid deadlines was recorded in the minutes.
