Tim McCarthy moved to authorize Omni Systems for installation and Brian Cassidy seconded; council members said the decision followed incidents of vandalism and a desire to protect park and village-hall investments. The motion passed on a 5–0 roll call vote. Council also noted the police contract, with minor revisions, will be reviewed by Grand Beach and both village councils in October before final approval.
The minutes record that the council considered the cameras a preventative measure to protect public property and said the contract amount was capped at $8,000.
