Public property director details programs, safety improvements and names Safe Employee of the Year

Pete, director of the Department of Public Property and Programs and town safety officer, summarized last year’s work: 19 programs and events including winter ski programming, an Easter egg hunt at Johnsburg Central School, an annual Halloween event and a teen homecoming masquerade that drew about 80 attendees. He said the department managed to operate on a flat budget for a third consecutive year by shifting funds and improving efficiency across parks, buildings, cemeteries, sidewalks and the transfer station.
Pete also described safety activities, trainings and incident reviews conducted by the employee safety committee and presented the 2025 Safe Employee of the Year award to Chris Hart, praising Hart's performance and willingness to take on varied duties. "I'm incredibly happy to present him with the certificate for the 2025 town of Johnsburg safe employee of the year," Pete said. The board thanked Pete and asked staff to highlight program priorities for the coming year.
