Johnsburg board names officers, pares committees and shifts meeting nights

The Johnsburg Town Board opened its 2026 organizational meeting and approved a slate of appointments, including William Welsh as zoning officer, Bill Mosher as dog warden, Pete as town safety officer, and Joanne Elizabeth Mayer as health officer. The chair said the deputy supervisor appointment will be announced within the month.
The board also pared down standing committees to avoid redundant meetings — merging comprehensive-plan work and related development topics — and struck the youth committee, reallocating its duties to other committees. The board voted to shift regular town meetings from Tuesdays to Wednesdays so the public has at least a day to review posted agendas when Monday is a holiday. "We're gonna go ahead and... have that on Wednesday so that there's at least a day and 0.5 where the community can look at the agenda and formulate questions," the chair said. The motions to approve the appointments and the meeting-schedule change carried with no recorded objections.
