Mayor Keeler said the city is planning a roughly $3 million project at the Water Filtration Plant to increase chlorine contact time using an engineered loop design intended to address a recent Department of Health Notice of Violation. "While there was no recent water emergency, the NOV was shared with the public in an effort to be as transparent as possible," he said.
Keeler told the Common Council the plant, originally built circa 1911, will be brought "up to 21st century standards" by the planned work. He said city water is tested multiple times daily, with chemical balance and bacteria results "within the proper range," and pledged to keep the public updated. "I'll continue to update you on the progress...and remember ...my door is always open," he said.
