CRA recommends $96,821.54 grant to renovate The Commons at 2633 MLK Boulevard

Melanie Long (CRA assistant director) presented a recommendation to award a commercial property improvement matching grant for Warehouse Fort Myers Incorporated property at 2633 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The motion read a not-to-exceed amount of $96,821.54; Long said the application included landscaping, signage, exterior painting and lighting.
Jordan Rowe, who identified himself as pastor of Mission Community Church and president of The Commons, described the building’s mixed uses — event center, a coffee shop called Forever Grounded and warehouse space that has been used for hurricane relief distributions — and outlined plans for courtyard improvements, decorative fencing and security lighting intended to revitalize the corridor. After board discussion, the motion was approved by voice vote.
CRA staff noted a related application for an adjacent property (2637 MLK) would be considered separately.
