CRA approves $87,769.70 grant for Twisted Acres restaurant and venue

Melanie Long, assistant director of the CRA, presented a Tier 2 application for Roku Properties (doing business as Twisted Acres) at 1940 Meravilla Avenue in the Cleveland redevelopment area. Long said the total estimated cost was $175,539.40 and the applicant requested 50% — $87,769.70 — under the program's tiered reimbursement structure.
Applicant Alicia Cuenas thanked the board during a short presentation. Commissioners praised the applicants’ persistence, noting they had been pursuing participation in the program for about three years. “We just hope that… we’re starting to bring that special back to it,” an applicant said, describing plans for landscaping, lighting and other exterior improvements intended to enhance the neighborhood. The board moved, seconded and approved the recommendation to award the requested $87,769.70.
The motion was read into the record before the vote; the board expressed support for the project’s goal of revitalizing that commercial corridor.
