Medfield prevention coalition showcases student photovoice, flags youth substance‑use trends

A Medfield Outreach staff member who oversees the Medfield Cares About Prevention coalition introduced a student photovoice exhibit and urged community involvement, saying the coalition’s grant-funded work aims to keep Medfield youth healthy. "I work with Medfield Outreach, and I oversee Medfield Cares About Prevention, which is a community coalition grant funded with the goal of keeping Medfield youth healthy," the staff member said during opening remarks, inviting attendees to join the coalition’s volunteer list.

The staff member described photovoice as a way to make daily protective and risk factors visible and said the coalition has local data motivating the effort. "You know, we have data that shows that, for example, Medfield youth are, show higher rates of alcohol and marijuana use compared to MetroWest average," she said, without providing specific numeric rates. She asked parents, students, businesses and law enforcement to engage with MCAP and to speak with event organizers after the program about volunteer opportunities and next steps.
